Vanilla Cranberry Cider recipe

I wanted to bring my Fri D I Y post from the Shop Delusions blogspot over to the Craft Bunny since it's the season for hot drinks and the more yummy posts, the better!

This recipe can be spiked or left alone to enjoy by itself.

Don't you love my grandma mug from Goodwill?

This recipe makes just enough for you or two if you spike it!

This recipe was some what eyeballed but you really can't screw it up unless you add too much cranberry juice.
  • 1 cup unfiltered organic apple cider
  • 3/4 cup cranberry juice
  • handful of fresh cranberries
  • 1 tea bag of mulling spices
  • small splash of vanilla
  • pinch of cinnamon
  • whipped cream
  • 2 shots of Bourbon optional!

Vanilla extract makes cider just that much more amazing, trust me! I am already using apple cider but I want to take the extra step to make my cider very spiced. The Martinelli's mulling spice tea bags are so easy to throw in, I like to keep them on hand in the winter for a spicy pick me up on a cold night. A handful of cranberries make your cider pretty to look at and nice balance the sweet with tartness. It's important to the flavor profile to use unfiltered cider if you want it to taste like you're biting into an apple and not sugar coated apple water, so do yourself a favor and splurge for that classy organic stuff!

Add cranberries, dash of vanilla, mulling tea bag, and a splash of cranberry juice to your cider and bring to a simmer. Add your desired amount of bourbon, I like it strong so I do 2 little shots!  Top your drink with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cinnamon.

Enjoy! Also check out my last DIY for the Shop Delusions blog, DIY Tea Satchel Potpourri ! Love and Cinnamon.
