DIY Halloween/ Fall Tea party!

Today I fixed up a Fall tea party for my bestie. Me and the bestie love fall and Halloween like no other. Every year we consume ungodly amounts of pumpkin flavored foods, beverages, and buy probably every pumpkin spice candle on the market. What better way to ring in the autumn season than with a Fall themed tea party with your best friend? Here's what I made and how to make it!

 I made classic cucumber sandwiches, pumpkin cranberry scones, and my own little recipe of heirloom tomato Caprese mozzarella sandwiches. 

(Sorry if some photos are blurry I have absolutely no light in my apartment and hate what flash does -_-)

First off, for your fall tea party you need festive tea! I like this pumpkin spice tea from Republic of Tea, it's a little pricey but very delicious! The other cheaper option is this delicious spicy Harvest Blend Herbal tea from Trader Joe's around $2. If you hate tea alternatively you could have a spiced cider tea party!

I usually like making my scones from scratch but these Pumpkin Cranberry scones from Trader Joe's sounded too good to pass on.

  

For the Cucumber sammies..

• Cucumber
• Dill weed
• Whipped cream cheese
• Freshly cracked pepper
• Salt
• Shepard's bread

Cut off the crust of your bread slices. I am using Shepard's bread because it is a little thicker and more substantial than your average white bread. Slice Cucumber thinly. Spread a thin layer of cream cheese and artfully as you can place your cucumbers. Season with dill, salt, and pepper. DONE!

I used a mandolin to get my cucumber slices really thin and pretty. I got my mandolin from Daiso so it's not by any means a well made culinary tool but it does the job for me at $1.50 and I can slice a pile of cucumbers within seconds!

This is my favorite raspberry jam from Crofter's, it definitely compliments the spicy pumpkin scones. This Halloween parchment paper is from Daiso isn't it adorable?!

For the Heirloom tomatoe Caprese sammies..

• 4 Heirloom tomatoes
• Fresh mozzarella
• Laughing Cow Garlic and Herb cheese
• Balsamic vinegar
• Olive oil
• Salt
• Freshly cracked pepper
• Shepard's bread

Slice your tomatoes thin. Marinate with a splash of Balsamic vinegar, olive oil, and salt and pepper to taste. I stuck mine in the fridge overnight to make them extra delicious! Cut out your bread with a cookie cutter and top with a thin layer of Laughing Cow cheese. Top with mozzarella and your tomato. Done!

For my Heirloom Caprese sandwiches I cut out my bread with these vintage Halloween cutters that were my grandmothers. I decided with the bread I had left it was okay to waste a few slices for the fact that they would be pumpkin shaped! Here I am spreading a fairly thin layer of Garlic and Herb Laughing Cow Cheese. This layer will prevent your sandwiches from getting too soggy under the fresh mozzarella.

Wishing Autumn Was Here OOTD

Wool coat was from a store on College Ave in Oakland (label is in Chinese), most likely 1980s vintage,  dress is from Terminal 21 in Bangkok, faux fur stole is from Amazon, hat is from Forever21, and purse is 1980s vintage Dooney and Bourke I got from Pretty Penny. 

Isn't my neighborhood park pretty? As you can see I added fall leaves since there are none :( .

Granted, it is still not feeling like fall and was way to hot to wear my coat with my faux fur stole but I suffer for fashion I guess! Or I am just a total freak about seasons and just want it to be a little chilly already, come on California!

Pointed woven leather ankle boots are vintage Cole Haan and are from James Rowland

Hopefully Autumn graces our presence in northern California soon!

Fall is on and the Faux Fur is Out!

Before my shoot today with my friends Delusions of Grandeur we skimmed through the sale rack..then went inside after I promised myself I wouldn't buy anything and I spotted these ADORABLE star studded 90s vintage loafers. So comfy and I couldn't resist at $22!

The new Delusions collections is SO cute I am so excited and proud of my girls Kaeyln and Jas. I wore this faux suede snakeskin skirt and matching top set last week to my big casting in LA and it was a hit. I feel so sexy and badass in it which really is a rare feeling because I don't know how to be 'sexy' haha! 

Here I am dancin' on my rooftop! We shot around my apartment building which was so convenient and not to mention an insane way to utilize my space, everything turned out fabulous and can't wait for everyone to see! 

I am also excited to reveal my next DIY which will be a lot of fun for those crafty guys and galz. Tune in next time!

Kawaii Halloween Candy Nails with DIY Nail Decal Technique

It's officially mid October so what better way to start off the celebration of spooky times with a little nail art?

This coral polish is by Etude House

I'm using the plastic bag trick for these designs. All you need is a plastic bag or plastic surface to paint on the designs, a fine tip brush, some fast drying topcoat, and tweezers. If you paint too many layers of polish on the designs will take a very long time to dry and if you peel them off too soon you run the risk of ruining all your hard work.

I wanted to make the designs big enough to cover most my nail. Use pastel colors instead of primary colors to make your designs the most kawaii!

Adding pink cheeks to anything will kawaii-fy your nail designs!

When your designs are all painted carefully top coat around the edges of your designs to make them easier to peel off and also lessen the risk of bleeding the colors together when painting a final top coat on your finished nails. Nothing worse than bleeding colors in the nail designs you just took a whole afternoon to paint! (Sorry the photo is so dark, I literally took a whole afternoon to paint these, and by the time I was finished it was dark!)

After your nail designs are dry and ready to peel off, do so carefully of course! Paint one coat of the polish that will be your desired background color, I am using an Elf polish with a subtle pretty blue sparkle running through it. The second coat of polish be ready to peel off your design and carefully place with tweezers onto semi wet polish. Wait a little to buff your design in like a decal. With a light hand paint a coat of top coat covering the design of course and the entire nail. I say with a 'light hand' because colors will still bleed easily even after top coating the designs.

TIPs!

• Clean off your brush in between colors with nail polish remover to prevent unwanted mixing of the colors
• Use a cheap top coat that peels off easily
• Stick your plastic bag designs in the freezer to speed up the drying process (this also makes it easier to peel them off)
• Use CLEAN tweezers to peel of the designs

Duckie inspired OOTD

This OOTD was inspired by Jon Cryer's character Duckie in Pretty in Pink. If you haven't watched this movie before please do yourself a favor and Netflix it, it's a John Hughes classic!

I don't accessorize a whole lot these days but this is my favorite bracelet ever from Kloset in Bangkok. Kloset is an ethereal Thai brand I just love it!

DIY Cookie pins!

This DIY is super easy just like baking cookies! Roll decorate and bake. You will need:

• Sculpey Clay
• Tooth picks
• A straw
• Pin backs
• Rolling pin or glass bottle
• Hot glue gun

I'm using scalloped edge cookie cutters. Got the round ones from Daiso (of course) and the heart shaped one is an oldie that has been in the family.

I'm using a little rolling pin from Daiso which is a perfect silicone material to easily wash off clay.

Cut out two cookies to make a cream filled biscuit!

I'm mixing 'Dusty Rose' and 'White' to make an edible looking strawberry cream filling.

Taking the 'cream filling' clay into a ball and flattening it, pull it a part to get a dripping effect as if the cream filling is oozing out strawberry goodness.

Take a tooth pick and poke biscuit holes. Get creative and customize your cookie! Poke in your name or a friends name in and give it to them! 

Sandwich it all together! Done.

Taking your 'dough' color mix cut out another cookie. The white frosting is 'Pearl' which has a pretty silver sparkle running through it. I like to paint a coat of clear nail polish on my finish projects sometimes to accentuate how glittery the clay is but in this case I'm leaving the clay to make the cookies look more edible. For the frosting I simply flattened out an oval shape and pulled it into a heart shape. If you bevel the edges of the frosting a little onto the cookie it gives it looks as if a thick layer of royal icing was spread on!

'Spring Lilac' 'Sky Blue' and a custom mint color for the sprinkles. Don't roll out your sprinkles too thick or thin, think slightly thicker than actual round sprinkles. Use a straw and twist out a circle. If you press all the way down the clay might get stuck in the straw but no worries because if it gets stuck just blow it out! 

Bake both your cookies at 275 degrees for 15 minutes and let them cool.

These are pin backs I found at a craft store, probably around $4 for a whole bag. Hot glue them down and you're ready to go. Make sure to buy pin backs according to the shape and size of the pins you'll be making.

Faux fur and Peter Pan collared dress OOTN

Tuesday night was my first mostly non vintage OOTN. I was feeling pretty sassy in my silky dotted drop waist dress, faux fur coat, and ankle boots.

Polka dot Peter Pan collared dress is from Lola, faux fur coat also from Lola. 

It seems lately I have strayed from wearing all contemporary attire. I feel like wearing all vintage is a fun challenge for me. Tonight I just wanted to throw on some clothes and some lipstick and walk out the door. Sometimes the outfits I like the most are when I just throw stuff together in a pinch.

Bag is vintage most likely 90s era

Boots are Dolce Vita

Lip's are Ruby Woo by Mac with E.l.f. color correcting powder over for a long lasting powdered matte finish.

There's something about dressing up for 'date night.' I love dressing up for the occasion and making it an occasion. Looking good shouldn't just be for your partner but for yourself because why shouldn't you look good and feel good too? 

Dinner was divinity as always at Mitama my all time favorite sushi spot. We're at the point were we just walk up to the sushi bar, know all the chefs names, and they just churn out these beautiful creations like this delicious masterpiece of mostly albacore, ikura, and pickled wasabi stem. I deeply regret not taking any other pictures because the guys were really on point tonight whipping up little dish after dish of nigiri, but sometimes you just gotta live people! Eat your food and not have to take a picture of every single thing you see. 

If you live in the Bay Area this place is really worth the visit. The fish comes straight from Tsukiji fish market in Tokyo so you know it's legit. The board lists daily what is fresh and you just have to get at least one of the chef's choices, or you simply are not living. I get Toro whenever I can and the head chef knows this and serves it to me without a word. They really know what they are doing here so if you want the closest experience you can get to eating sushi in Japan it is here (I can say this because I have eaten sushi in Japan). I come here to feel like a queen. To me it feels like I am being served as if I am eating at Sukiyabashi Jiro in Japan. Become a regular and you will. That is all for my sushi rant!
